Why Mayo Clinic

This Operations Administrator is a non-rotational position that will oversee the Enterprise Food Services contract.

This position can be located at any Mayo Clinic site, but will require frequent travel to Rochester and occasionally other Mayo Clinic sites.

Position description

Provides operational and strategic leadership to all foodservice operations for Mayo Clinic. This includes all outsourced food service vendors and non-outsourced food entities across the enterprise. Champions the efforts that create excellent patient experience, Mayo employee engagement and patient/customer services. Ensures Food Services are aligned with Mayo's brand and mission. Manages and maintains food service policies and procedures that are in accordance with administrative directives, professional standards and contracted partner operating agreements. Ensures the Food Services Vendor practices are in compliance with federal, state and local accrediting agency standards and regulations. Builds and maintains relationships with and reports food services performance to the site Mayo leaders; facilitates discussions and assists with/ensures adherence to Mayo Food Services related policies and Vendor contracted agreement. Builds, develops and maintains business relationships with all food vendor operations across the enterprise; Works in partnership with Mayo Supply Chain and co-leads the evaluation and selection of new service vendors. Initiates frameworks for reviewing and monitoring vendor service contracts and develops new contracting strategies, partnerships and joint venture agreements, negotiates service agreements that reflect the priorities of Mayo Clinic. Establishes vendor service evaluation systems (Key Performance Indicators) and regularly reviews performance against target goals and objectives, develops and deploys initiatives that improve vendor performance. Guides and supports foodservice vendor in achieving contract goals including goals including finance, Patient Satisfaction scores and health and wellness. Creates a customer-focused Mayo and vendor employees team and an environment that is dedicated to developing new and innovative food services. In partnership with the foodservice vendor and Mayo facility services, develops plans for ongoing facility evaluations, maintenance and replacement of foodservice facilities and capital equipment including priorities, budgets and timelines. Represents Mayo, as one of three c0-leaders of the Mayo Food services at external/internal professional and technical committees and meeting and PR activities. Maintains active affiliations with food services industry leaders and trade organizatons.


Master Degree in Business Administration or similar advanced education. 7+ plus years of management experience required. 5 years of experience with contract administration and monitoring of key performance indicators. 3-5 years of experience in high volume, multiple site food service operations with at least 2 years in the healthcare sector. 3 years of experience in senior leadership role.

Strong relationship builder and communicator. Ability to operate in a matrix organization. Excellent influencing, leadership and visionary skills.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $4,545.00, based on a full-time position.
